Discovering ADAC -- Atlanta's Decorative Arts Center

A couple of weeks ago, I accompanied my friend Nancy to a VIP Tour, Welcome to ADAC soiree.  And *soiree* is really the only word that seems to fit.

Kerry Howard of KMH Interiors invited clients and their guests to tour some of his favorite showrooms at the place in Atlanta...  ADAC...  the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center... more here.  Selling "to the trade" ADAC has been the most exclusive private club in town since it's inception, finally opening their doors to the public in October of 2012.

French Provincial Painted Dresser

It was love at first sight...

I may have blinked a little at the price but I knew exactly what finish it needed.
No hesitation...
No "Let me think about it..."

Country Living Fair -- Southern Style

Fall finally arrived in Metro Atlanta, along with the opening of the Country Living Fair this past weekend.
Not just cooler but downright COLD.  Mid 30's at Stone Mountain on Friday, and it didn't begin to warm until after lunch.

Painted Upholstered French Twin Bed

I found an incredible Louis XV twin bed at an estate sale for a price that I could live with and in a style I couldn't resist.

Fall and the Crabapple Festival

For the second year in a row, a friend and I attended the Crabapple Festival in... you guessed it... Crabapple, Georgia.

We could not have asked for a better place to be on what just might be the most spectacular day we've had in Metro Atlanta this year.  The sun was shining, the sky was that incredible shade of blue reserved for ushering in a change of season, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky.
Simply stunning!

Yellow Daisy Festival and Yard Sales

It's getting to be that time of year.  And even though it doesn't feel like Fall in Metro Atlanta the anticipation is here for the festivities scheduled over the next month.

A couple of early entries in this year's lineup were the annual Yellow Daisy Festival at Stone Mountain, and a Multi-Dealer and Collector Yard Sale that I participated in.  Yellow Daisy is something I attend every year, rain or shine, cool or hot, with cool being a relative term and hot meaning h-o-t.

Home Canned Tomatoes -- A How-To

This past weekend, traveling through the North Georgia mountains, I found these beautiful, perfectly ripe tomatoes in Helen, Georgia.  I thought tomatoes were gone by now and I'd missed my chance to do some canning.
I couldn't resist buying a box of them.

Delightful Diverse Decatur ... And Goats

When I went on Facebook this morning there was a post from my neighbor about goats in the Old Decatur Cemetery.  Goats?  You just gotta love a community that does something that spectacular.  Laughing, and shaking my head, I knew I wanted to share a little about this hidden "gem" in Metro Atlanta that I lovingly call home.

It's Fall Y'all... Almost!

Tomorrow is the first day of Fall.  Officially.  I admit Fall is my absolute favorite season.
It's the season of change.

Changing colors, changing temperatures, changing anticipation for what's to come.

Kind of like Spring.  But Spring has an underlying "cold" to it.  Fall has an underlying "warmth."
Saying "Fall is in the air," means cooler temps with an underlying warmth.  That makes me happy.  As do the colors.  I'm a warm-color-loving person.

Painted Lady's Vanity/Desk

Trying to organize pictures on my phone and small digital camera I found several projects photographed during various stages of completion.  One of my favorites is this desk/vanity which was painted in a custom color for Scott's Antique Market.

Tin Ceiling Tile Mirror

I've had several people ask about the mirror standing behind my couch in what was my Living Room and is now, I guess, my Great Room, or Great Room To Be once it's finished.

That mirror is absolutely one of my favorite pieces ever!

My Half Bath Renovation

When I bought a three bedroom, two and a half bath, townhouse near Emory University, in Decatur, Georgia, it had been a rental for many years and had not been renovated since it was built in 1974.  I believe there was one carpet replacement during that time but that was it, other than painting again and again and again.  To make matters worse they used a gloss enamel paint that highlighted every wall imperfection, including unsanded spackling and loose sheet rock tape, and they'd painted over wallpaper in several rooms and a couple of accent walls.

Haven Conference Wrap-Up and Post-It Note I.O.U.'s

Last weekend, Courtney and I attended Haven, the blogging conference here in Atlanta.  I knew it was something special but had no idea how big it really is. I first heard about Haven last year when Courtney told me she tried to buy a ticket for me but they were sold out.  So when I learned that this year's tickets would go on sale January 1st, I watched the clock and waited poised in front of my computer only to find out that the "early bird" tickets were already gone.

First Lesson Learned: Bloggers are f-a-s-t!

Haven Conference, Estate Sales and GPSs in Metro Atlanta

I know some of you will be traveling to Atlanta today for the Haven Conference and will be depending on Google Maps and Navigator.  As someone who lives here and loves Estate Sales I finally get out and about in my neighborhood and the "burbs."

Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and Drying Hydrangeas

Today began at 8:30 with some friends (my neighbors) getting together for a PSO (Planned Sunday Outing)  to Revolution Donuts in Decatur.  It was my first time there but my neighbors have been raving about it. Know how a lot of times places don't live up to the hype?  Not so today.  I loved it.  Especially the salted caramel  bacon donut I chose.  Salted.Caramel.Bacon.  No pictures (too busy moaning about how fabulous it was) but you can check them out ... here ....
