Gingerbread Galore -- Savannah Style

Traveling to Courtney's for Christmas...
I met them in Savannah where they were ice skating at the Civic Center...
Something of a tradition...
Celebrating Courtney and her husband's first date 22 years ago...

Courtney was *awesome* ... more here...

Of course, she always has been...
But she's finally laying claim to her awesome-ness...

Then to the Westin to see the entries in the Gingerbread Competition...
Another *awesome* display...

Awesome...  And amazing...

So much so there's really no need for words...
Just let me share some Awesome-ness...

Savannah's City Hall  by the Westin Chefs...

This won the Manager's Choice...
And my unsolicited vote for *Most Creative*...
With paint brushes made from angel hair pasta noodles...

Courtney loved the Necco roof in this Adult Division entry...

All the detail was amazing...
This won 1st Place in the Student Division...

There were themes of Village Life...

The 2nd Place Student Division shows a "worn-out" Santa...
At least, I hope he's just tired...

Amazing architectural confection fantasy...

Googly-eyed gingerbread people...
And snow covered roofs...

Even Snoopy's Doghouse...
Recognizable by Children of all ages...

His house may have collapsed...
But the Pastry Chef was standing proud, made of Spun Sugar...

Even this tree was candy-themed...

And I absolutely l.o.v.e. this Peacock Tree...
So Savannah...
And reminiscent of Flannery O'Connor...

These beautiful peacock feathers are real...

Leaving the Westin and Savannah behind...
Traveling on to Brunswick...
Stopping for hot chocolate along the way...

'Tis now the day before Christmas...
Listening to The Nutcracker and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy...
Just perfect for this confectionary display...

Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas...
And echoing a prayer for Peace and Good Will on Earth...
With love in our hearts...
May this be your very best Christmas ever!

In the meantime, thanks for stopping by...
